Dahon Folding
Bikes
Folding bikes - or portable bicycles
as Dahon like to call them - it's all
they've done since 1982 when they
made their first, pioneering folding bicycle.
And they do it very well. Easier folding
- better fit - proven reliability. Choose
from a range of Urban Utility, Urban Performance
and Road bikes. Dahon bicycles come in
three wheel sizes 16",
20" and 26".
Economic
pressures, environmental pressures, life
pressures. What’s a person to do?
Dahon make bikes that fit into your life
and help you take charge of your weekly
fuel bill, of your workouts, of your carbon
foot print. In addituion to being the ideal commuter transport, a folding
bike is ideal for the caravan, boat or
motorhome owner.
Ultra
Quick Folding
A Dahon portable bicycle folds quickly, to a very compact
size, yet still offers all the riding performance of
a traditional bicycle. Almost every Dahon bicycle can
be folded in 10-15 seconds, without tools, and is small
enough to fit under a bus or train seat.

Dahon Wins!
Bruce
Croal, riding a Dahon
Mu SL loaned by Walkers Cycling,
won the folding bike race at the
Edinburgh Nocturne city centre
race in July. |
| As
part of the Nocturne series, Dahon,
the folding bike manufacturer sponsored
a folding bike race where the competitors,
dressed in business attire, wait
30m away from their folded bikes.
At the drop of the flag the competitors
have to run to their folded bikes,
unfold them and complete 3 laps of
a testing 1.2km circuit. In
the Edinburgh event on Saturday 3
July, the course was the toughest
of the Series and included a steep
cobbled climb up Victoria Street
just past the start/finish area.
The climb lead onto George IV Bridge
and then a sharp right turn for a
fast descent back down into the
Grassmarket. The riders then looped
around the bottom for the final
sprint up the cobbled north side
of the Grassmarket. Walkers
Cycling had a “Guest
Rider” in Bruce Croal, Scottish
Pursuit champion, riding our demo
bike – a Dahon Mu SL – a
9 speed, super light bike weighing
less than 9 kg (impressive for
any bike let alone a folder!).
Having first seen the bike at 5
pm on the evening of the race,
Bruce was ably instructed in the
technical aspects of folding and
unfolding by Zyro staff (Dahon’s
UK distributer)– not difficult
really – Dahon bikes are
simplicity itself.
There
was no doubting the eventual
winner – Bruce’s track
pedigree showing from the start.
Right from the off, he was in the
frame – tailing Mike McFarlane
on a Birdy™ Bike round the
first lap and easily leaving him
wondering what flew past after
crossing the line on the first
lap.
Bruce’s prize of a Dahon
Speed Pro TT worth £1299.99
was presented on the podium in
front of a magnificent crowd of
spectators. A great night for cycling
and a great night for Dahon. |

Dahon
Vitesse D7 £439.99 |
Dahon
Mu P8 £649.99 |
|
Frequent
winner of folding bike shootouts
against bikes costing four times
the Vitesse and it costs less
than you might expect. Its light
weight makes it ideal for trips
that include a stretch by bus or
train. Total weight is 11.8 kg (26.0 lb); folding time is 15 seconds. Suitable for riders from 142 cm (4' 8") to 193 cm ( 6' 4"). Perfect basic urban transport. |
One of Dahon’s most versatile, all-around bikes. The Mu P8 is light, fast and stylish enough to turn heads everywhere it goes. Great performance and good
value. Dahon's design goals are always lighter, stronger, faster - the Mu P8 delivers on all three. Total weight is 11.2 kg (24.7 lb); folding time is 15 seconds. Suitable for riders from 142 cm (4' 8") to 193 cm ( 6' 4"). |
An urban bike that takes on anything you throw at it. On the nastiest potholed roads and the hydraulically-damped fork and Schwalbe Big Apple tyres level everything out. On tarmac, lock out the fork and you can hammer away efficiently. When locked down, the LockJaw hinges are very strong but almost invisible, so nobody will even know you’re on a folding bike.. |
