Here at Walkers, in common with the
most adults, we started cycling as children
and we can remember the excitement of
getting a new bike - perhaps as a birthday
present or from Santa Claus. We want
our younger customers to have as much
fun cycling as we did when we were their
age.
No DIY
with Walkers Kids' Bikes!
Some retailers
will happily take your cash and send
you away with the bike in a box which
you then have to finish assembling
yourself. Not at Walkers Cycling! All
our children's bikes are sold fully assembled
and ready to ride.
Safety
First
At Walkers Cycling we never advise buying
a bike that your child will "grow
into". We will help you to choose
a bike that they can ride safely now.
Children should always wear
an approved safety helmet when riding
their bikes - no matter how short the
journey - and we stock a range of
helmets in fun designs and colours that
appeal to youngsters.
Choosing
a Child's Bike
We welcome children, accompanied by a
parent or guardian, to view our range
of children's cycles. There is no specific
rule dictating the size of bike that
is right for a child at any particular
age. We will gladly let your child try
a few bikes to help
you determine the most appropriate size.
You may also find one of our Walkers
Cycling bike buying guides useful. These
can be downloaded from our Bikes
Page.
Children's cycles are grouped by wheel
size from 12 to 26 inches. Older children
may be ready for a small-framed adult
bike with 26" wheels and we
aim to have some of these in stock at
all times.

Seats, Trailers and Tag-alongs
Younger children needn't miss
out on the cycling experience. Whether
you're just popping down to the shops
or heading off on a family outing,
we can supply child seats and trailers
that attach to an adult bike so that
junior can go to.
The tag-along - a single wheeled trailer
bike that attaches to the rear of an
adult's bike - is also a popular solution
as the child gets to ride as well,
under the adult's control. The child
can ride or freewheel as required
without affecting the operation of
the adult's bike. |

| The
Balance Bike Method: Learning to
ride within easy reach of the floor
is a whole lot of fun. The simple
design with no pedals ensures no
distractions and encourages the
skill of balancing on two wheels
- the child learns to ride confidently
without the distraction of pedaling.
Children learn faster, ride more
confidently and are less likely
to experience any 'taking off the
stabilisers' wobbles. The brake
teaches your child essential skills
early in their cycling adventure. |
