Neil Walker - Coach

Neil, Fiona's brother, is a British Cycling qualified coach and has an honours degree in Applied Sports Science from Edinburgh University and offers cycling specific coaching as part of the service provided by Real World Fitness.

Neil has worked in elite level cycling as a Coach and Performance Manager with the Scotland and Great Britain Cycling Teams in disciplines including road, time trial, track endurance, MTB XC and downhill and has coached riders from beginners and club riders as well as world and Olympic level athletes.

Neil has been racing bikes for over 25 years, starting in mountain biking, progressing to set Scottish junior time-trial records and going on to win Scottish championship medals on road, track and MTB. He represented Scotland in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. More recently, Neil has returned to competition for fun in MTB XC, endurance racing, cyclocross, road and time trials winning the Rabbie Burns Ayrshire Time Trial League, and placing 5th overall in the 2010 Scottish Cyclocross Series.

Hugely complicated, scientific training programmes are all very well for elite athletes - but not everyone lives in a laboratory! Most people have busy lives with pressures from family, work and other interests. Real World Fitness Training provides practical cycling specific coaching solutions and support for cyclists with 'real lives' and combines the science of training with the art of coaching to tailor solutions to your lifestyle and goals - no matter how big or small.

Neil's cycling specific coaching service covers:

• Training Plans
• Skills
• Bike Set Up
• Goal Specific, Practical Fitness Testing
• Nutrition
